Oak Harbor Public Schools' Communications Department Receives National Recognition for Building #OneOakHarbor Campaign and New Website Launch

The Oak Harbor Public Schools' Communications Department is proud to announce it is the recipient of a 2024 Golden Achievement Award and a Publications & Digital Media Excellence Award from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).

A record number of entries from across the nation were submitted for the awards program this year and Oak Harbor Public Schools is honored to receive this national recognition. NSPRA’s Golden Achievement Award recognizes outstanding, strategic work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing and engagement. NSPRA’s Publications and Digital Media Excellence Awards recognize outstanding tactical materials such as publications, newsletters, videos, podcasts, websites, social media and more.  Communications Officer Sarah Foy, APR and Communications Specialist Lisa Jones accepted the award during the NSPRA Conference on July 15. 

The team won a Golden Achievement Award for their Communications Department Strategic Plan that centered on building the #OneOakHarbor movement to develop a connected and engaged community working together to support student achievement. The team also won an Honorable Mention in the Digital Media Excellence Awards category for the new OHPS websites, which were launched last year. 

The award-winning OHPS Communications Department is a key conduit to the community by increasing awareness, visibility and support of the Oak Harbor Public Schools and programs. The department is responsible for overseeing and executing communication and community engagement efforts aligned with the Strategic Plan to more than 6,000 parents/guardians, 1,200 staff members and countless community members through strategic communication planning, events, committees, community relations, marketing, branding, media relations, public records, emergency communication and planning, digital and print publications, videography, website and social media management.  To see the department's work in action, follow Oak Harbor Public Schools on social media, monitor all of the OHPS websites, or sign up to receive our communication through the ParentSquare app
