Kindergarten Riders

A parent or guardian must be present at the bus stop to pick up their Kindergarten child at the end of the day. If a parent or designated adult is not at the stop, the bus will continue and the parent will be notified to pick up the student at the Transportation department at the end of the bus route. If a guardian is unable to be present, they may designate another adult by submitting a written note to the Transportation Office in advance. The note will be kept on file upon request. Submit your request to the Transportation Director, Cathi Gutierrez.

Buddy Passes

For student safety, Buddy Passes are no longer accepted. Students may only ride on buses specifically assigned to them. This means that students will not be permitted to ride a bus that they are not assigned to, even with a note. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

BusRight

Oak Harbor Public Schools is using a new app called BusRight that will allow you to keep track of your student's school bus route to and from school directly from your smartphone. The BusRight app will allow you to, in real-time, follow your student's bus route to and from school, view alternative snow routes, receive notifications when the bus begins and ends its route, and view the expected arrival time at your student's designated bus stop. You will still receive notifications via ParentSquare of any delays longer than 15 minutes from the Transportation Department. Read the announcement sent to families about the new BusRight system.

If you have any questions about your student's route or bus, please contact our transportation department at 360-279-5570.

Walking & Biking to School

Our bus drivers, crossing guards, and on-site school staff and volunteers prioritize student safety every day. The district partners with the City of Oak Harbor's Safe Routes to School program to support families with appropriate walking paths, bike routes, bus routes, and traffic control.

If you have any questions regarding walking and biking routes, please call our staff at 360.279.5570.

Driving to School

Please be cautious and use only the appropriate and designated areas during pick-up and drop-off times at your school. Please refer to your school for specific guidelines for parent pick-up and drop-off, or for driving yourself as a high school student.
