You're Invited! Upcoming Groundbreaking Ceremonies for Grant-Funded Construction Projects

Oak Harbor Public Schools, in partnership with Construction Services Group, NAC Architects, Bayley Construction and Tiger Construction, will be hosting two groundbreaking ceremonies to kick off construction to replace Crescent Harbor Elementary and Hand-in-Hand Early Learning Center/HomeConnection Schools.

The construction projects are funded entirely by grants from the State of Washington and the Department of Defense. The event will include remarks from Superintendent Dr. Michelle Kuss-Cybula, student representatives and a representative from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island followed by an official groundbreaking photo opportunity with students and dignitaries who made the construction possible.

The event marks a historic milestone for Oak Harbor Public Schools.  Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and the State of Washington because the construction of the schools will be the first in the state to be built debt-free to the local community.  In a remarkable achievement, Oak Harbor Public Schools secured more than $136 million in grants from the Department of Defense’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation, alongside an additional $26 million from Washington State’s Defense Community Compatibility Account to build the schools on military installations.
