Oak Harbor High School Student Creates New Design for School Resource Officer Vehicle

The Oak Harbor Police Department's School Resource Officer vehicle is set to hit the streets with a fresh new look, thanks to the creative talents of Oak Harbor High School student Emelyn Payne.  The design was part of a partnership with the Oak Harbor Police Department, Oak Harbor Public Schools and the Oak Harbor High School Career Technical Education (CTE) graphic design program.

"It is a great feeling to see the design in real life," said Payne when she first saw the vehicle pull up in front of the Wildcat Stadium Friday afternoon, "Our teacher (Mrs. Jana Jansen) teaches us about the design process from start to finish, including working with a client until the final product and it's great to see the design come to life."

The final design was brought to life by Jeff Humphrey of Humphrey Sign Company in Oak Harbor and features the Oak Harbor High School colors and mascot and also includes all of the school logos, which was important for School Resource Officer Tyler Adamson who supports all of Oak Harbor Public Schools. The design not only showcases the schools supported by the Oak Harbor Police Department, but symbolizes the ongoing and strong #OneOakHarbor partnership to maintaining safe learning environments for all students.

"We are proud of our partnership with Oak Harbor Public Schools. As a team, we are building pride and creating a safe environment in both our schools and our community," said Oak Harbor Police Chief Tony Slowik.

A special thanks to Student Emelyn Payne, Teacher Jana Jansen, Oak Harbor Police Chief Tony Slowik, School Resource Officer Tyler Adamson, Jeff Humphreys of Humphrey Signs, and Oak Harbor Public Schools Communications Officer Sarah Foy for making the project possible!
