Important Update from OHPS Transportation

Posted Date: 9/03/24 (6:56 PM)

Dear Families,

We are currently experiencing a high call volume, which is resulting in a delay in providing service and support to families contacting our transportation office. We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation as our transportation department works to finalize routes for all of our students.

Beginning this school year, we are using a new app called BusRight that will allow for you to look up your student's route and track your student in real-time from your smart phone.  If you requested transportation and your student was assigned a route, you should have received an email invitation to join the app and view your student's transportation information.

If you did not receive an email to join the app or if you log in and are not able to find an assigned route for your student, it could be for one of the following reasons:
  • You have not re-registered your student for transportation for the 2024-2025 school year. Every year, families need to re-register for transportation for their student. You can request transportation for your student via the form on our website.
  •  You live within the one-mile walking area from your home school attendance area and do not qualify for transportation services.
  • Your bus route is still being configured by our transportation team. If you do not see any route information, please plan on providing transportation to your student for the first few days of school as we continue to work to finalize routes. If your student shows up to a bus stop and it isn't their assigned route, our bus drivers will still work to ensure your student gets to school.
A few important reminders:
  • When you log into the system, you may see multiple stops on your student's route and the final stop may not be your student's school. Please know that your student will be dropped off or picked up from their appropriate school, even if it is not listed as their final destination.
  • Elementary school buses need to also pick up students from Oak Harbor Intermediate School, which dismisses at 3:40 PM. Your student's drop off time will be a little later than anticipated because of the dismissal time at OHI.
  • The first few weeks of school will result in delays and longer than usual wait times for our school buses as our students and bus drivers adjust to their new routes.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our roads and students safe to and from school every day and we hope you have a great start to the school year.

Sincerely,

OHPS Transportation Department
