Crescent Harbor Elementary families recently participated in the Prime Time program, offered annually in partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries and Humanities WA. The Prime Time Library program is a free, six-week program that supports elementary-age readers and builds connections among families in our schools. 

Kelly Moses worked with the library this year to connect 24 families from Crescent Harbor Elementary with the program. “It’s a great way for families to spend time together as they build skills and discuss story elements,” she said. Each session includes storytelling, a family discussion, and an introduction to other library resources like homework support, digital materials, and other items like Discover Passes, laptops, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Participating families also receive books to keep and gift cards.

Oak Harbor High School's drama students present student-directed one-act plays at Drama Fest!

This year's plays are “Speed Date,” directed by Adriana Froman and Dana Rivo, “So You Wanna Be a Cheerleader” directed by Laurianna Newcomb and Logan Hendricks, and “The Customer is Always Wrong,” directed by Cyrus Amor and Ashley Mendoza.

The show opened on Thursday and continues tonight and tomorrow night at Oak Harbor High School. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m..

Students from Exceptional Academy visited the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce earlier this week. They learned how the chamber supports local businesses in the community and found an abundance of resources at their fingertips.

Students in Ms. Mia's Life Skills class at Broad View Elementary participated in a science experiment that aided comprehension of the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. All week, students have been working on different sequencing and problem solving activities in relation to the rhyme, in preparation for them to create their own baskets with special filling to protect their Humpty's from a fall. Students then got to drop their eggs off a "wall" and test out their hypotheses!
