Digital Tools

Oak Harbor Public Schools (OHPS) is committed to providing teachers, administrators, staff and students with safe digital tools that support and enhance student learning. Digital Tools that are a part of our adopted curriculum such as iReady, TCI, STEMscopes, Amplify, Big Ideas, etc. are approved for use. Google tools and YouTube are also approved for use.

    • Epic! Reading - K - 6 - Epic offers access to over 40,000 high-quality illustrated books and chapter books including audiobooks.
    • Kami - PK - 12 - Annotate on ebooks, PDFs, worksheets, and more. Students can draw and annotate with a selection of colors, shapes and text sizes. 
    • Pear Deck - PK - 12 - An interactive presentation and lesson tool designed to enhance learning as students move through Google Slides. 
    • Screencastify - PK - 12 - Record  your tab, whole screen, or webcam only.  Edit your video and then upload to YouTube, or Google Classroom.
    • Vivi - Transform the classroom into an interactive, collaborative learning space with wireless presentation capability.

    The free version of these tools may be used (unless otherwise noted) or buildings/programs/departments may fund paid versions.

    • 99Math - Students and Staff are blocked from signing in with Google.  With group activities and individual practice your students will boost their accuracy and confidence in math.

    • BeeLine Reader - The BeeLine Chrome extension helps you read more quickly and easily.  BeeLine uses a color gradient to guide your eyes from the end of one line to the beginning of the next.

    • DeepL - STAFF ONLY - Staff can use the free web translation tool, but should not upload any documents to the website for translation.  Staff should not copy/paste any confidential information on the site.

    • Diffit - STAFF ONLY - Teachers use Diffit to instantly get “just right” resources for any lesson, saving tons of time and helping all students to access grade level content.

    • Dreamscape - A strategy game where players complete reading comprehension practice in order to build, defend, and challenge others.

    • Drone Blocks - A comprehensive suite of drone and robotics educational solutions.

    • Duolingo for Schools - Student accounts must be manually created. Students are blocked from signing in with Google. 

    • Econ Lowdown / Federal Reserve Education - Student accounts must be manually created by the teacher.  A free platform with award-winning economics and personal finance resources for K-12 classrooms.

    • Edpuzzle - Empower students to take an active role in their learning with interactive video lessons that spark creativity and curiosity.

    • Eduaide ai - STAFF ONLY - AI-driven platform that helps educators create lesson plans, teaching resources, and assessments.

    • Edutopia - STAFF ONLY - A free source of information, inspiration, and practical strategies for learning and teaching in preK-12.

    • ESGI Software - STAFF ONLY - Easily collect, review, and report data to inform instruction.

    • Euclidea - Students and Staff are blocked from signing in and may not create accounts.  A large collection of interactive geometric puzzles.

    • Everyday Speech - Requires a subscription.  Help students develop communication, behavior, emotional, and academic skills.

    • Figma/FigJam - Figma is a design platform that offers powerful, collaborative environments where you turn your ideas into responsive and interactive designs.  FigJam files are online whiteboards, approachable spaces where anyone can take part. They tap into the spontaneous, joyful nature of working together.

    • Flippity - Easily turn a Google Spreadsheet into a Set of Online Flashcards and Other Cool Stuff!

    • Flocabulary - Flocabulary is a learning program for all grades that uses educational hip-hop music to engage students and increase achievement across the curriculum.

    • Formative - PAID VERSION ONLY - Bring interactive assessment and scoring to existing assignments.  Simply upload any pdf/Google doc and you can annotate, create assignments, and more.

    • Free Rice - An educational trivia game that helps you get smarter while making a difference for people around the world.

    • GenerationGenius - Video lessons made in partnership with the NSTA that engage, educate & inspire kids in science.

    • Geogebra - Free digital math tools for class activities, graphing, geometry, collaborative whiteboard and more.

    • Get More Math! - Paid subscription needed after trial.  Online math practice to target current skills.  Spiral review to ensure long-term retention.

    • Gimkit - Gimkit can be used to introduce or review concepts; it's like a mashup of Kahoot! and Quizlet, but with some unique features neither have.

    • Gizmos - Gizmos are interactive online simulations and case studies for math and science through hands-on learning and experimentation.

    • GPT Zero - STAFF ONLY - Staff are blocked from signing in with Google.  Without signing in, staff may copy and paste up to 5000 characters for an AI detector check.  Please be aware that AI detector tools are not reliable. We urge you to use caution when reviewing student work with this tool.

    • Grammarly - GRADES 7 - 12 ONLY -  Reviews spelling, grammar, punctuation, and clarity mistakes in writing and suggests replacements for errors.

    • Happy Numbers - Individualizes instruction in math and provides actionable insights about student growth.

    • iCivics - Improve students' civic knowledge, civic attitudes, and core literacy skills.

    • IXL - Math, ELA, social studies, and science practice questions and modules that meet nearly all the Common Core State Standards.

    • Kahoot! - Students are blocked from signing in.  Kahoot! is a game-based learning platform that brings engagement and fun to the classroom.

    • Khan Academy - Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more.

    • Kodable - Students learn computer science and coding concepts through engaging games. 

    • Learning A - Z (Raz-Kids, Vocabulary A-Z, etc.) - A resource that provides a library of differentiated books at various levels of text complexity for students to practice reading along with other resources for vocabulary, etc.

    • Legends of Learning - Math and science games created to engage students.

    • The Lexile and Quantile Hub - Discover new and enhanced tools that support student learning and growth in reading and math.

    • MagicSchool ai - STAFF ONLY - Using the magic of AI to help educators.

  • Classwize is a feature of our filtering product Linewize.  

    Classwize does not replace the need for clear expectations and communication around the use of technology in the classroom and instruction in the area of digital citizenship.

    When used with research based teaching strategies, Classwize can be used to assist teachers in the use of technology with students.

  • Vivi's tools transform the classroom into an interactive, collaborative learning space, driving increased engagement and productivity. With wireless presentation capability, teachers are now given the freedom to navigate their classroom with no restrictions, engaging with both the screen and the students from any point in the room.

    Playing Video with Vivi

    • Vivi is able to play videos from a wide range of online sources such as YouTube and Vimeo. You will be unable to play videos from certain sources, especially those that require you to log in as Vivi is unable to log into these for you. 

    • Use Play Video for YouTube and videos from Google Drive

    •  If you are playing a video that requires a sign in from a curriculum subscription or other platform, you will want to use Movie Mode after you have shared your screen.  Movie Mode will help sync the video between your laptop and your display.

  • OHPS Clever Portal

    • Teachers and students use Clever to access curriculum subscriptions and digital tools

    • Create your own Teacher Page so that you can easily share links with students.

    • Clever Google Classroom - Your classes from Skyward are now automatically set up with their own Google Classrooms.

    The Google Classroom/Clever sync will:

    • Create Classroom Classes and enroll students and teachers based on Clever section data.

    •  Automatically update rosters based on changes in Clever/Skyward.

    •  Allow teachers to manually add and remove students and co-teachers to Clever-created Classes.

    •  Allow teachers to rename Clever-created Classes.

    •  Allow teachers to accept or reject Clever-created Classes.

    •  Allow teachers to add co-teachers to Clever-created Classes.

    The sync will NOT:

    • Create, modify, or delete Google user accounts.
    • Modify courses that teachers manually create in Classroom.
    • Send Classroom grades back to Skyward.
    • Overwrite changes that teachers make to their Classes, such as the course name.

    Teachers no longer need to manually roster courses in Google Classroom.  Classrooms will automatically be created based on the data in Skyward. Teachers will have the option to accept or decline Clever-created courses in Classroom.  You can decide whether or not you want to use these classes.  If you choose not to use them, you will need to create your own classes and invite students.

    Students will be updated in these classrooms as changes to enrollment happen in Skyward.  If a student is removed and you need access to grades, you can manually add the student back to your classroom and grades should be restored.

    The names of classes in Skyward make it difficult to tell which classes are for which grading periods.  You may change the names of classes and archive classes for later grading periods and making them active again when the new grading period begins.
